Kris Reid
Kris Reid is a Newfoundlander, author, entrepreneur, and vibrant storyteller with more than two decades of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry.
Kris has built a diverse career across Canada, managing complex hospitality operations, including luxury fly-in wilderness lodges and full-service hotels. He has also operated a successful boat tour company, giving him firsthand experience as both an operator and entrepreneur in the tourism sector. Kris was also a recipient of the Tourism Industry Association of Nova Scotia’s (TIANS) Pineapple of Excellence Award for Hospitality in 2025, an honour recognizing outstanding leadership and dedication to excellence within Nova Scotia’s tourism industry.
Through these experiences, Kris developed a reputation for strong leadership, operational insight, and a deep understanding of what creates exceptional guest experiences.
As a speaker, Kris brings a distinctly East Coast style to the stage—blending humour, authenticity, and storytelling rooted in his Newfoundland upbringing. His ability to weave compelling stories with practical business insights allows audiences to see leadership, service culture, and entrepreneurship through a new lens.
Kris is the founder of Kris Reid Hospitality Consulting & Strategies, where he works with tourism and hospitality operators to identify operational gaps, strengthen service culture, and turn small improvements into measurable results.
He is also the author of Permission to Quit, a book that explores the courage it takes to leave unfulfilling work and design a life built around purpose, independence, and ownership.
Through storytelling and real-world experience, Kris inspires audiences to rethink leadership, resilience, and the opportunities that come from building something of their own.
