Leceta Chisholm Guibault
A dedicated children’s rights advocate and humanitarian, Leceta is deeply committed to all aspects of child welfare. She is an adoptive parent of three adult children, adopted internationally from Colombia and Guatemala at the ages of 4 months, 5 months, and 19 years.
Leceta is the co-founder of several impactful organizations: OUR Guatemala: Travel with Purpose, OUR Colombia, OUR Advocacy, Team Women with Purpose, and Team EDUCARE.
Co-Presenter: “Looking at my past, I found my future”
Leceta has co-presented the talk “Looking at my past, I found my future” alongside her son, Alex Chisholm Guibault, to more than 35,000 people across 32 U.S. states, 4 Canadian provinces, as well as in Guatemala and Colombia. Their audience has included elementary to university students, First Nations communities, child welfare professionals, those working in child abuse and trauma prevention, church groups, adoption and foster care communities, educators, and more.
Leceta fought tirelessly for Alex’s adult adoption from Guatemala and continued advocating for him to be granted Canadian citizenship in 2021. She is also one of the subjects in the Canadian-produced documentary “Mi Nombre Es Alex” https://youtu.be/_22a3j7SIPI?si=FHW3hn8BJrYm7Jxg .
In 2020, Leceta supported Alex as he filed and successfully settled a lawsuit against the U.S. missionaries who had abused him in an orphanage.
